Types of Assets Reported on Estate Tax Returns

The following chart shows the types of assets reported on estate tax returns filed in 2015.  Total gross estate asset value reported for the year was $167.4 billion.  Keep in mind that estate tax returns were only required to be filed for estates with values of $5.43 million or more.
